Porto's city centre is ideal to walk around with your family. On foot, the steep and narrow streets of the historical centre make it possible for the youngest ones not to grow weary too fast. Take this opportunity to photograph some beautiful azulejos, the beautiful blue tiles so typical of the Portuguese urban landscape.
If you suddenly feel tired, hop on one of the various yellow trams. Built in wood, they are being driven by courteous drivers who will give you the impression of travelling back in time. They can take you up to the beach if you crave for outdoor activities, or even to the Sea Life Porto aquarium, filled with marine creatures with strange names and stranger shapes.
A stone's throw away from the aquarium is the Parque da Cidade do Porto (City Park), where you should spend a couple of hours, on foot or by bike. If you'd rather visit the city's other gardens, try the Palácio de Cristal, very suitable for endless games of hide and seek. As for the riverside, the Douro crosses over town and allows for hour-long boat trips that will delight the whole family.
