Indoor growing techniques

This year, Food Loves Tech introduces you to some companies and brands known for the most promising new inventions. As you stroll down the aisles, you will bump into farmers from Square Roots. They will take you on a tour of their urban farm which is actually in a container in the grounds of the expo itself. During the tour, you will learn about their production methods, before sowing some plants for yourself, then picking fruit and veg ready for harvesting.

Recognised as one of the most innovative companies in the world, AeroFarms will amaze you with its huge, indoor, vertical farms. Thanks to its patented aeroponic technology, the company provides the perfect conditions for healthy plants to thrive with minimal environmental impact.

Also exhibiting is SproutsIO which offers an automated system for growing vegetables at home, so easy that kids can do it. Setting the pot up by smartphone takes about five minutes, then your tomatoes, cucumbers or peppers will already be starting to grow. This is not magic; this is science!

Environmentally friendly innovations

As you know, it is not always easy to put together a perfectly balanced meal. Chowbotics might just convince you to take home one of its robots which counts calories, provides exact portions and helps you avoid waste. There are thousands of made-to-measure meal options ready at the touch of a button.

Would you like a drink and care for the environment at the same time? Proud Pour makes your drinks party great and the world a better place. Every wine this company produces is linked to a major ecological cause. As an example, its Sauvignon blanc not only tastes fantastic, but it also helps to save United States oyster reefs. For every bottle bought, 100 wild oysters are restored to local waters. The planet will thank you!

The organic revolution has begun!

Algama has a head start on food of the future. This innovative company harnesses the nutritional qualities of micro-algae which are likely to play a key role in global food supply thanks to their unique protein content and low environmental impact. You do not hesitate and give this natural discovery a try!

If you lack the experimental gene, try Australis Barramundi instead. There are few fish as healthy and environmentally sound as this Australian sea bass packed with Omega-3s.

At Food Loves Tech, you will come across some unlikely innovations that are funny nonetheless. When technology is used for the pleasure of taste, what we get are mobile photo booths producing pictures you can eat! Do not leave Food Loves Tech without eating your own photo printed on a biscuit or iced coffee.
