Le Crabe Marteau, by the harbour

Le Crabe Marteau is the best crab restaurant in Brest.

Le Crabe Marteau is in a 19th-century building, one of the oldest in Brest's trading port. It is also one of the most popular places in the Ponant Cité. In the no-nonsense style of typical port eateries, it has solid wood tables and construction site buckets for table bins, and is generally rustic, friendly, and efficient. The refined dishware may be lacking, but diners are brought much-needed paraphernalia-wooden board, hammer, and bib-before their meals arrive.

And now, à l'attaque! Richly flavourful fresh crabs are served with a nice array of homemade sauces and organic Guipavas potatoes. For starters, you could try the crispy crab, then a hot-and-cold crab or artichokes and crab… You guessed it alright, crab is definitely the signature dish here, for your enjoyment. Depending on the day's catch, fish and seafood dominate the rest of the menu. And, in another sign of success, alongside others restaurants in Paris, Lorient and Bordeaux, Le Crabe Marteau has now recently opened a new one in Nantes.
