Welcome to Onomichi, a port city between Hiroshima and Osaka, and the starting point for many cycling routes. Facing the sea, an old maritime warehouse has been turned into a trendy and innovative spot involving several areas including a restaurant, a bar, a bakery, a concept store, a delicatessen, and the hotel Onomichi U2.
In a tightly measured but very functional space, the 28 identical double rooms are biased towards industrial design and Japanese minimalism. Here, everything has been thought through, and nothing has been left to chance. There is even a bike rack on the wall! The decor, walls, and floors are grey, warmed by wooden furniture. The long shelf that serves as a desk is made of concrete. In the back, the bathroom opens on to the bedroom, separated by a studio-like glass wall, which has beige linen curtains that can be drawn for privacy. And for the height of refinement, your blue cotton pyjamas await you on the bed.
