In this 18th-century building, six luxurious rooms have been imagined and conceived by famous Lisbon architect Manuel Aires Mateus, who, moved by principles of sustainable development, used only natural materials like marble, wood and stone. In a stripped-down decor, where minimalist furniture stands alongside Baroque paintings laid directly on the floor, all rooms at Santa Clara 1728 offer unobstructed views over the Tagus River. Even the bathrooms play the authenticity card, with hand-crafted tiling and terra cotta bathtubs.
You will not find an official restaurant in this elegant hotel, but a gigantic guesthouse evening meal instead, where food is prepared on demand. Under the large arches and subdued lighting, you will be able to indulge in Lisbon's typical cuisine. Do not pass by the traditional Arroz Doce, a rice pudding which sweetness will stuck in your memory for a long time.
This haven of rest is well hidden, therefore perfect for discreet stays.
